Poor Babies

I had a text today saying the woman that was going to take little Rosie and dodger could now not have them. Aparently her landlord changed her mind :(
I feel so sorry for them. I know they have no idea that their new home fell through but still. Poor little loves. I hope I find them new families that will actually want them very soon. They are so cute and friendly I want them to go to people who will appreciate them

Cute babies

Some updated pic's of the babies shortly before they are due to leave for their new homes. I will miss this lot as they have been a real pleasure.

The green eyed monster

We had our second Flyball show today. We were running in Division 2 and we won against every team we raced! You can imagine how excited we were. Unfortuneately there was a but. Another team (who funnily enough, came 2nd) decided to contest the hight of a dog we run against 2 teams in the afternoon. Some people can be so malicious. Because the dogs owner had forgot her hight card, and the head judge had said he had no one to witness the measuring, they were threatening to disqualify us! Even though the same judge had said we could run at the hight she was measured at last week. Has no one heard of innocent until proven guilty?? They decided that they would disqualify our 2 afternoon races until we produce the dog's paperwork to the British Flyball Association.
As much as it felt so good to actually win against every team, I hope the guy from Hot shots flyball team is proud of himself. He stole mine and Fleas moment of glory as we were announced as 2nd and they 1st. But then, he who laughs last :0) The result will be overturned and his 1st place rosette won't mean a thing.

Some people

Some people shouldn't be allowed to keep dogs without formal training. Flea can get quite nervous at times, he doesn't like dogs that get up in his face and keeps himself to himself when we are out walking. If he feels like he can't get away and a dog is bouncing up all over him eventually he will defend himself and go for them.
As I know this about him the 1st sign that he is getting scared and I call him to me. He is easy to read as he tries to lower his head and make himself look really small.
So we go on our walk and my dogs are chasing ball on a rope and minding their own business. I notice a chocolate lab that is not really listening to her older teenage owner. For one the have a harness on it so that gives me a clue that they don't know what they are doing with it (Dogs pull  more on harnesses!!!). It's off lead and totally wild. I call Flea to me even before we get near it as I knew he wouldn't want to be jumped on. Usually that's enough that an owner will see i have Flea by the collar and they call their dog away...but no. So I catch the owners eye and say to him, "my dog won't like her jumping on him". He just looks at me while Flea starts to grumble a warning for the dog to leave him alone.  So I say to the guy " he will bite her if she doesn't leave him alone". Meanwhile Flea is getting jumped on and is really growling. The guy is close enough to grab his dog, but no, he starts calling it. The dog is still ignoring him and I can feel flea tensing. So again I repeat myself and the guy gets snotty with me saying yeah alright in a sarcastic tone!!! Can you believe it. I'm trying to protect his dog from getting bitten (and obviously Flea from getting in trouble and scared) and he is copping a strop! Just as I finished my warning Flea does lash out and the dog is squealing. The guy still isn't making any effort to grab the damn dog. He is standing there calling it. Even as I am trying to walk away, still holding Fleas collar the dog is still following us and he still has made no move to catch it.
I can't believe people can be so incredibly dumb. So now Flea is going to be even more nervous when approached next time :0(  It really does wind me up that people behave like that.
We had had a really nice walk up until then, they had been playing ball together and had met a few dogs that had been joining in their game :(

Tuesday 4 May 2010

poor picked on boy

Poor Flea has been terrorised today by kittens. Asia's babies are getting so big they are running all over the place. Flea thinks they are very scary and grumbles and runs away. They are so playful now, little Oli makes a little singing noise as he runs around chasing Lola, it is so cute.
Flyball...again
We went to flyball training today. Flea was running with the top team which was a bit scary but good fun. Turns out they want him to compete with them on Sunday as one of the team can't make it :0)
My friend Jeni took Blitz along to see if she would like to do flyball.... Oh my god Blitz was loving it, I thought she would be a bit blonde about it, but no. She was going really fast and even took the ball from the box. I was being teased that my own dog might kick me and Flea down a team lol. That would suck to have your own dog oust you. She has never been so excited about anything. She got so excited she ran straight into the netting and went over it head over heels. We had to laugh, she looked so funny. She used to like agility but not as much as this. Jeni really enjoyed herself too so that was good. I'm just not fit enough at the moment to run 2 dogs so I'm happy Jeni wants to do it too.
Blitz is now fast asleep on her bed and Flea is still running away from the cats.
Peace rains....for now

Flyball

So we get up really early and trundle off to Oxford for our very 1st BFA flyball show. I'm not a morning person but sometimes needs must. We have a bit of time before our division starts so we sit in a caravan and have Bacon roles, not a bad way to start the day. Unfortunately it is raining and I haven't been able to find my waterproof trousers. I do have thick tights and combates on on but the rain is running off my waterproof coat and down onto my bum, let me tell you that is not pleasant. I go and watch a few of the dogs running and the system is explained to me. We have to race against 5 teams the best of 5 races for each. With crufts flyball that I have done before as soon as you lost a best of 3 race you went home. Which sucked big time so this was going to be very different for me and Flea. It is all computerised timing and lights system too which is great. You get to find out exactly how fast your dog runs :0)
We had two races in the morning and 3 in the afternoon. Luckily it stopped raining in the afternoon too. When we got to our final race we had won three and lost one. Our final race came down to the wire and whoever won the last time was going to win. we tried really hard and were winding the dogs up (as if they need it). It looked so close when the last 2 dogs crossed the line. We looked up and saw the we had the exact same times. 4 dogs took 20.66 seconds, It is extremely rare for 2 teams to come in at the exact same time. The judge laughed and we looked over at the other team who were laughing and shaking their heads. We were all so tired by this time and so were the dogs. But we had to find a winner so we had to race again. The adrenaline kicked in and we went nuts. Winding the dogs up, asking for a little bit more of our very tired but excited dogs.
When we won that race it felt amazing. Our tired dogs had given everything they had for a sport that they love. I haven't seen Flea so happy in ages.
Unfortunately I didn't get to see the hockey as the show ran over and I was sad about that for a bit. But it didn't last long. Who could be down when we had managed to come 2nd in our 1st competition?? Can't wait for the next one.
Even Blitz, who normally isn't that excitable seemed to enjoy watching. So she is going to go to training with my friend Jeni to see if she enjoys herself. If she wants to do it she can, but I have no intention of forcing her, So we will see..
Oh and it looks like Flea,s fastest time yesterday was 4.7 seconds to do 4 jumps catch a tennis ball and do 4 jumps back :0) the top dogs do about 4 seconds flat so once we help him with his box technique, who knows :0)

Flyball and hockey

So I am sitting here thinking I really should start packing our stuff for the show tomorrow. We need to be prepared for all weathers, this is England after all. He needs a harness and bandages and bucket loads of water. Coats that cool him if he gets too hot and ones to warm him if he is cold. I also need all sorts of clothing, just in case. Add to that I am aiming to go straight to a hockey game 2 hours away I'm going to need nice clothes and make up too. I must be mad!!
I am looking forward to it though. I really hope we do well. It is a bit nerve racking as he hasn't had much  training on this type of box!
Lets pray for the rain to hold off. I really don't want to go to ice hockey like a drowned rat

Flyball

Well Flea and I had such a good time last night. He figured out the new style box really quickly. Everyone was really friendly and they were very impressed with him. Halfway through training they asked if we would like to compete on Sunday :0). I was really taken aback but why not? One of the trainers said he is really fast and their will be a few things we can do to sharpen up his technique. So Flea is now a member of the Dream team and we have 2 shows booked already.
They did take some photos of Flea in action so as soon as they get uploaded to the web site I will add them on here.
After coming back from training a couple came round to meet the kittens :0) they couldn't decide so decided to reserve 2 kittens. They are calling them storm and Milly. So it is just my little favorite ginger kitten left at the moment. i can't believe he is last as he is super cute. I'm sure someone will fall in love with him soon.

Tuesday 27 April 2010

Flyball

So I have finally found a flyball team for Flea to join. He used to do it before, ages ago and even came 2nd at crufts one year. However the type of box they use has changed and Flea has only done it a few times. I'm sure he will be ok though. He knows the basics and has more speed than I usually know what to do with. I am a bit nervous actually. We are going to go along for the 1st time tonight. Meeting new people is always scary for me. Flea, however is going to have a wonderful time. I'm sure he will do his best to figure out the new box. Fingers crossed they see his potential and invite us to join them.

As for the kittens, one of Bali's babies has gone to her new home already. The others are due to go home on Thursday and Friday. I am really ready for them to leave now. They are lovely but damn hard work when you have 2 litters. One of Asia's babies will be going to live with one of Bali's when she is big enough. I'm so please about that as little Lola is such a sweetie. Someone else is coming to look at the babies tonight so fingers crossed they might reserve one too :0)
I really should be getting ready to go to flyball but little Coco refuses to get off my chest as she is fast asleep. I just know she is going to yell at me when I move her.
Oh well here goes....

Friday 23 April 2010

I saw this and it made me cry laughing...so true

How to Give a Cat a Pill
1. Pick up cat and cradle it in the crook of your left arm as if holding a baby.
Position right forefinger and thumb on either side of cat’s mouth and gently apply pressure to cheeks while holding pill in right hand. As cat opens mouth, pop pill into mouth.

Allow cat to close mouth and swallow.

2. Retrieve pill from floor and cat from behind sofa.
Cradle cat in left arm and repeat process.

3. Retrieve cat from bedroom, and throw soggy pill away.

4. Take new pill from foil wrap, cradle cat in left arm, holding rear paws tightly with left hand.

Force jaws open and push pill to back of mouth with right forefinger. Hold mouth shut for a count of ten.

5. Retrieve pill from goldfish bowl and cat from top of wardrobe.

Call spouse in from the garden.

6. Kneel on floor with cat wedged firmly between knees, hold front and rear paws.

Ignore low growls emitted by cat. Get spouse to hold head firmly with one hand while forcing wooden ruler into mouth. Drop pill down ruler and rub cat's throat vigorously.

7. Retrieve cat from curtain rail.
Get another pill from foil wrap. Make note to buy new ruler and repair curtains. Carefully sweep shattered figurines and vases from hearth and set to one side for gluing later.

8. Wrap cat in large towel and get spouse to lie on cat with head just visible from below armpit.
Put pill in end of drinking straw, force mouth open with pencil and blow down drinking straw

9. Check label to make sure pill not harmful to humans and drink one beer to take taste away. Apply band-aid to spouse's forearm and remove blood from carpet with cold water and soap.

10. Retrieve cat from neighbor's shed.
Get another pill. Open another beer. Place cat in cupboard, and close door onto neck, to leave head showing. Force mouth open with dessert spoon. Flick pill down throat with elastic band.

11. Fetch screwdriver from garage and put cupboard door back on hinges. Drink beer. Fetch bottle of scotch. Pour shot, drink.
Apply cold compress to cheek and check records for date of last tetanus shot. Apply whiskey compress to cheek to disinfect. Toss back another shot. Throw tee-shirt away and fetch new one from bedroom.

12. Call fire department to retrieve the damn cat from the top of the tree across the road. Apologize to neighbor who crashed into fence while swerving to avoid cat.

Take last pill from foil wrap.

13. Using heavy-duty pruning gloves from shed, tie the little *&#%^'s front paws to rear paws with garden twine and bind tightly to leg of dining table. Push pill into mouth followed by large piece of filet steak. Be rough about it. Hold head vertically and pour two pints of water down throat to wash pill down

14. Consume remainder of scotch. Get spouse to drive you to the emergency room. Sit quietly while doctor stitches fingers and forearm and removes pill remnants from right eye. Call furniture shop on way home to order new table.

How To Give A Dog A Pill

1. Wrap it in bacon.

2. Toss it in the air.

Cats cats and more cats

I seem to have cats everywhere at the moment. Asia's babies have started exploring now so I really do have kittens all over the house. I must admit a big part of me is looking forward to seeing Bali's kittens go to their new homes now. Little Coco has taken a real shine to me. She often comes up for cuddles and sleeps on my chest if she gets the chance.
Asia's babies are looking really cute, they have chubby little faces just like their dad. They are getting so brave now and seem to be all over the place. They seem to want to tell me about it all the time too lol. I have to be so careful walking anywhere in case I step on one.
I am currently looking for a new place to live as my new company want me to move a bit closer. Who knew it would be such a nightmare. I turned up to look at a flat in a converted manor house, close to work. It was massive. Only problem was I had been told it would take pets and when I turned up they denied all knowledge. What a wasted trip. The next place was perfect, the house was lovely, the area was lovely, right by the sea. Problem is it is 1hr and a half away from where I am now. It would be a real nightmare to get to see the ice hockey  team from there. The dogs would have loved to live right by the sea but I am just not sure about being so far from everything. So I have one more place to see tomorrow, 37 mins from work, 40 mins from the ice hockey team and an hour from my close friends....So why do I keep thinking about the place by the sea?

Baby pic's

4 days away

So a load of bees fans trotted of on our usual play off finals weekend in Coventry. Our team might not have been there to play but in true form the bees fans were the last ones standing. It seems we really know how to party lol. The poor DJ in Crosby's had to stay late as the bar owner said while we were there spending money at the bar he'd stay open until 1 am on Sunday.
So after 4 days away I come home to my little monsters. The bigger kittens pretty much look the same but the younger ones... wow they are huge! They are the sweetest things. The two black ones have really fat faces and look so much like their dad. The other two are really cute too but the little black girl I'v nicknamed Rosie is my fav. She sits there gazing at me :0)
I have moved them onto the sofa for the 1st time this evening and they are taking it in there stride. They have curled up next to me for a snooze.
As for the big babies, they are absolutely everywhere. They are so playful. The quiet moments are few and far between now :0)

Asia babies

Bali Babies

updates

Well what can I say, all of Bali's babies have now been reserved. They are all going to really nice homes and I am sure they will have their new families wrapped around their little paws not long after they go home.
They are however driving me nuts. lol  I am a plaything in their opinion. I can be jumped on, hung off, chewed, climbed on and any anything else that takes their fancy. Having said that there are moments where they come up for a nice snuggle and a sleep. I am so pleased that they are growing up, super confident, playful and friendly.
I must be totally crazy as one of Asia's babies from a previous litter is here on holiday. Add to that my mum's Tonkinese that I have agreed to find a new home for and I am totally over run with cats. I keep telling myself that   only 4 of them are permanent residents to keep me sane.
Cuba is still being a really good dad and even uncle Indi is starting to teach the babies how to be a silly Burmese.
Asia's babies are growing fast now too. It is still a bit early to see their personalities but they are super cute. They have fat little faces just like their dad. I have finally got a new laptop now (thanks Dad you are a superstar) I can be better at keeping up to dad and uploading pic's . :0)

Friday 2 April 2010

1st reserve

Well I am pleased to announce my 1st kitten has a reserve. The 1st baby to be picked was the little "alien" Smartie. I am so pleased she got picked 1st, She was really good and sold herself really well. I was worried that she would end up left behind but as she has got a bit bigger she is a lot less ugly :0)
I have more people looking at them tomorrow so fingers crossed more will get reserved for nice homes :0)

Monday 29 March 2010

Asia's new babies

Asia finally had her babies on the 24th March. She had them while I was out and decided poor Bali's bed. So Bali was turfed out and she had managed to give birth in amoung Blali's babies. She had two Black babies, a girl and a boy. Then I found one Tabby and white girl down by the side of the cat bed. I put them in her big box with her children but she just would settle. In the end I got so fed up with her trying to put her babies with Bali's I ended up taking her into the bedroom. I thought it was really weird that she had not had a ginger baby as she always does. lol. Last thing I said to her before I went to bed was, Asia, where is your ginger baby? Well to my surprise when I woke up the next day she had a ginger baby over night :0)
So four babies in total all really healthy.
This was not the end of my issues though. She wanted to be in the lounge but everytime I moved her box in there she got confused and kept trying to look after  Bali's babies too. She started driving me crazy as she wouldn't settle in my bedroom as she likes to be with everyone.
So I finally came up with a solution. I had to transform Blitz's dog cage for her. So I moved it into the lounge and made it cat friendly, Asia decided she liked this idea. Everyone could still watch her but she couldn't get confused and get Bali's babies. she is so happy with her new home I don't even have to shut her in now.
She is a super mum :0)

Babies

The babies are doing so well. They are properly up and running around now. They chase your feet when you walk.  I have nicknamed one baby gobby as she is so loud. The only person who can keep her quiet seems to be my mate Jeni...just call her the cat whisperer lol. They have decided following the dogs around is quite fun too. Blitz doesn't have a problem with that but poor Flea tries to run away. They think that is a really fun game. Poor Flea bag, scared of the nasty babies lol.
Little Smartie is the 1st picture. She isn't quite as Alien looking but still. lol

Wednesday 24 March 2010

mayhem

Asia is driving me crazy, She keeps trying either steal Bali's children or look after them. As sweet as that sounds it is a real pain. Poor Bali is getting pushed out of the way all the time as there isn't enough space for all of them to be in there. I cannot convince Asia that she hasn't given birth yet and they are her children. I am guessing this means that she will be due to give birth really soon now.
As for the babies, they are doing fantastic. They come out of their bed ever now and then and waddle around. They are very cute now. Although Smartie is looking a bit like an alien at the moment lol. I am sure she will turn out ok as her mum looked a bit like a bug eyed alien when she was tiny.

Wednesday 17 March 2010

More Babies on the way

So it turns out that sneaky Asia is definately pregnant! I have felt a baby kicking! She is looking extremely pleased with herself and getting fatter by the day. I really didn't want her to have babies until later on in the summer! Two lots of kittens at once is going to be really hard work. As she has kept it quiet, I have no idea when they will be born...lol .
She is a very good mum and not flakey like Bali but even so.
Speaking of Bali, we have finally come to an agreement about her new spot to keep her babies. She has chosen a half enclosed cat bed. It's not really that big but both her and the babies seem happy enough. Better than under the bed in the draws in any case.
They are still growing well and are almost waddling. It won't be long before they are running around getting under my feet  :0)

Friday 12 March 2010

sooty

This little dog was brought to agility training. He looks just like a mini Molly. I really wanted to take him home, he was so sweet. What do you think?

Babies Update

The babies are still growing well. Bali is still trying to shove them in my draw if I don't keep my bedroom door shut. I often help her with the feeding just to top up what they are having. They lap the milk from the end of a syringe now. I am very messy though often getting it all over their face. Bali doesn't nind but she does try and steal their milk.
I had a horrible experience with their dad last night. He was sitting on the arm of the chair and sneezed really loudly. I didn't think anything of it until 30 minutes later. I went into the bathroom and saw that I had snot in my hair....How grose is that? Good job I love that cat!!! Anyway more baby pic's

This is smartie, she is my fav at the moment.

Thursday 11 March 2010

Names

So the babies are getting bigger. They are all just about 200g. All of them have their eyes open now and will often gaze at me. So I figure they are over a week now and really should give them names. Trying to tell them apart can be a bit of a mission at the moment. One has a darker nose and the only boy has a really pink nose but the other three are really tricky. I have had to use felt tip pens to mark there tails otherwise I can't track their weights very well.
So onto the names. As they are all chocolate in colour at the moment ( they may turn brown as they get bigger) I decided to go on a chocolate theme:
Smartie,
Wispa,
Crunchie,
Cadbury
Buttons

On another note it seems that Ice hockey might be taking over more of my life than it does already. I have been happily doing front of house this year. BUT the GM wants me to think about taking over as chairman of the supporter club!!!! That would be a huge responsibility but how can I say no? If my club needs me i guess i have to step up!

Monday 8 March 2010

Cuba timeshare

I am having the weirdest tug of war ever. Bali acts like you have taken a baby away if I pick up Cuba out of her box. Now I understand he is doing his bit and being a good daddy but I am missing my cuddles as it is. She totally freaks out and yells at me until I put him back. So I have come to a compromise! She can have him during the day and evening but come bed time I am stealing him lol. She seems to accept that well enough. I have never known cats like this, a real family unit. It is quite simply crazy.
Some of the other kittens have started opening their eyes now. They are putting on loads of weight and are growing so much. Fingers crossed they will continue to do so.

Sunday 7 March 2010

Sat 6th Dog training and hockey in one day :0)

Lots of ups and downs today.  I took the dogs agility training at an out door venue, Flea was his usual super sonic self but apart from having a few poles down (no surprise there), he did really well.
Blitz on the other hand... oh dear, sometimes she really is so blond. She does well when doing medium or slightly higher hight jumps, but the minute we put them up to her proper hight she really doesn't like it. At the moment I don't know if it is a confidence issue or just that she is on the short side and finds it too much. I'm going to monitor her and see how we go. If I have to make the decision not to jump her at full hight so be it. It just means she will only compete at UKA shows where she can do a lower hight. I do agility for my dogs enjoyment so have no intention of forcing her.
So on to hockey..a big game against the Swindon Wildcats. They are snapping at our heels for the last playoff spot so this promised to be a close game...Wow was I wrong. We were rubbish to put it politely. Oh my god. Our team may not be the best in the league but it has had one thing going for it, HEART. I am not really sure where that went last night. The game finished 8-0 against a team that we should have beaten. Our import forwards looked disinterested as did most of the team, We couldn't believe what we were seeing, Sometimes you watch your team lose and think, well they did everything they could. But no they really did nothing. The only player to mention was Bomber (Kaminskas). There is a reason this guy is my Fav player (not just cos he owns a Bali baby). He was the only one who was putting his heart and soul into the game. It is a real shame this seasonas he thoroughly deserves player of the year. I'm guessing Cesky will get it as he has been a goal scoring machine. But for me player of the year is more than that, Cesky is undoubtably very talented but can go hot and cold and whinges like a girl. Bomber just gets on with it EVERY game.
I was in such a bad mood when I left, I went round a friends house ended up having an arguement and hastly left to go home and sulk lol
I checked the babies on my return to find one of them has one eye open...On day 4, that is really early. Maybe they are going to delvelop early. That has got to mean trouble. They will be climbing up the curtains before I know it :0)

Friday 5 March 2010

Sadness

Unfortunately little Angel died this morning. I had done absoultely everything I could but it was not to be. She seemed to be doing well when I fed her at 1am. I woke up at 3am to feed her and she was really quite cold. Her family had pushed her out and wanted nothing to do with her. I wrapped up a hot water bottle and laid her on in next to me in bed. sometime between 3.30 and 5am she died. My only consolation was that she was warm and not on her own. I'm old enough to know this is a fact of life but it is hard to take.
I am going to continue to weigh all of the kittens daily so if any others lose any weight I can help them straight away. FIngers crossed they will all be ok.
For once I have a Cuba complaint. Now he is a dad he is spending all his time with them. He didn't even bother to come and sleep next to me like he always done :0) I guess I am going to have to put up with the loss of my "teddy" lol.

Thursday 4 March 2010

Day 3 pic's

Dad doing his bit....again and little Angel

What a day...playing mum

Well where do I start. I got up this morning to find out the small little kitten had been, well pushed aside. Bali had dug her blanket up and left the little one underneath. The poor thing was extremely weak and had obviously not been fed. Aparently cats will push a stuggling baby aside and consentrate on the others :0(  Now I know this is natural, and it's the whole survival of the fittest thing, but it breaks my heart to think that Bali could disgard a baby.
So...action stations!! I was feeling incredibly guilty for not being prepared. I had no kitten substitute milk. The only thing I had in the house was Saline that I occasionally flush Cuba's nose with. So all I could do was use that to try to rehydrate her. Then it was time to go off to work. It was the last thing in the world I wanted do do but I had no choice.I spent the whole morning worrying and pretty much expecting the worst. All I could do was hope she would fight. At lunch time I rushed past the vets picking up some orphan kitten milk powder in the small hope I would still need it. I couldn't believe it but I am pleased to say she was indeed still alive but still dehydrated and not strong enough to suckle. I made up her milk and gave her a small amount. Now I've never played mum before so we both got milk everywhere. Once again it was off to work and I'd done as much as I could.
It is hard when you know you should be feeding the baby every two hours but you can't because of a small matter of earning a living.
I got home as soon as I could and as expected she was incredibly weak, so I had to play mum again. I have been feeding her hourly to build her up a bit. She is getting stronger and yelling at me when I annoy her, which has got to be a good sign. I have called her Angel for now.
I have been out and got some kitchen scales so I can monitor everyones weight. The fattest is 138g and little Angel is only 79g.
I can't say I am looking forward to the night feeds but I am hoping it will be worth it. I'm thinking she will need feeding at 12, 2 and 4 am :0(
Yet again a special mention has to go to Daddy Cuba. Everytime I come home or look over, there he is cuddled up to the babies doing his bit to make up for their rather flakey mum. I'm probably being a bit harsh but I am still trying understand why Bali would push Angel away. That said she sits and watches me feeding Angel so it is a good sign she is showing an interest. Hopefully not just because she is eying up the milk.

Wednesday 3 March 2010

What part of no is confusing?

Why oh why must I have this arguement. Let me set the scene. I am currently cooking chicken breast. For dinner or to put in tomorrows sandwiches I hear you ask!!! Oh no. I thought I'd be nice for two reasons. 1: Bali could probably do with the extra protein, 2: poor Flea has such an upset stomach I can hear it churning from accross the room. Every time I go to check on it Bali is yelling like mad at me.. Eventually I see what is going on! She has grabbed a child and is carrying it to where??? yep you guessed it back to the draw. I'm sorry but I refuse to let her bring up her children in a draw, it's just rude. I rescued the babies and then Cuba and I went for our shower (he has upper respiratory issues and being in a steamy room helps him breath). By the time I get out she has taken babies back to the draw. I have now shut my bedroom door but I am guessing this will be an ongoing battle of wills.

Day two

So on to day two. Bali babies seem to be mostly doing well. There is one small little girl who hasn't got a big belly like the others. Now I have identified the problem I will have to police some meal times and make sure she gets her fair share. I will be getting some scales tomorrow so I will be able to weigh everyone and check they are growing. I'm not convinced Bali has that much milk to be honest so I am a little concerned. I will have to do some research on what I can give her to help her along. The babies aren't crying though so that should mean they are content enough.
Cuba is still insistant on spending "family" time. Luckily Bali seems to enjoy the added company. Shame he can't share the feeding duties.

New beginnings 02/03/10

So my 1st ever blog...How exciting!!!

I'll start as I mean to go on, talking about my pets. If you don't like cats, dogs or ice hockey this blog won't interest you :0)

Bali had her kittens This morning. She decided to give birth in the draw under my bed that i had emptied out for her and put a soft blanket into. I have no idea why she chooses my draws but there you go. She had checked out the other draws under my bed to ensure she picked the best one. Shame in doing this she has ruined an item of clothing that had huge sentimental value...Baggage. Unfortunately I was fast asleep when she gave birth but by the time my alarm went off she had just had her last baby of 6!!!!

Although I am happy to indulge her draw fettish for giving birth once she had finished I moved her into her baby box in the lounge. She seemed happy enough but kept shouting at me every time I left the room. Unfortunately for her I had to go to work so she was on her own.

When I finally got home I settled down in front of the TV and was surprised to see Cuba (the kittens dad) decide to get in the box too. It was so cute, he was washing the babies and Bali then cuddled up with them. After a while Bali decided to leave dad with the babies and go off and have five minutes to herself. Cuba looked so pleased to be trusted.

Burmese are one in a million and Cuba is right at the top. I don't know many cat dads that look after their own babies from time to time.
